Claude Julien gets fired from the Devils in the midst of a winning season. Lamoriello steps in. Will the Devils have a post-season such as 99-00, when they fired Robbie Ftorek on the way to winning Stanley? It could happen. The Devils have as many peices as any championship team would want.
The Stellar Goalie- Obviously, Broduer is as good as they get. He's currently on pace to tie (if not break) the single season wins record, and has a great post-season history. He's won 3 cups before, in 94-95, 99-00, and 02-03.
Rock Solid D-men- This factor comes in the form of Brian Rafalski and Brad Lukowich. While others (Paul Martin, Johnny Oduya, Colin White) have been good, Rafalski and Lukowich have been the best. Rafalski has 53 points and a plus-5 rating, while Lukowich has 12 points and a plus-3 rating.
Speed and Flair- The Devils receive a daily dose of this from Patrik Elias, Zach Parise, and Paul Martin. Elias leads the team with 67 points, and has 21 goals, while Parise has 31 goals and 61 points. Martin is a speedy D-man with the skills to score 40+ points, but he hasn't reached that yet. Still, he could be a big factor in the playoffs.
Defensive forwards that will big you forever- Jay Pandolfo, John Madden, Sergei Brylin, and Erik Rasmussen all fit this category. Pandolfo and Madden are constantly in Selke talks, while Brylin and Rasmussen are less known but great two-way players.
Look like a winning combination to you too? Thought so.
Goal of the Day- Here's a great goal by Marian Hossa while he was with MORA in Sweden.
That's all today.
